Named pipes?

Hi everybody, Here is my problem: I want to send data to a C++ program. I would like to know if there is a mechanism like named pipe in Oracle (DBMS_PIPE.SendMessage()) Is there a way to do such things in Informix? Any other possibilities? I mention that I have: Informix SE 7.02 (no ESQL/C) and use a GNU compiler with C++ libraries. I'm very new in working in Unix environment, so bare with me :-). Any help appreciated!
