SQL Error -908 with IDS 7.31.TD1
Hello, I'm a new informix with windows xp user. I installed the IDS 7.31.TD1 version in a Windows XP, I have ADSL internet connection with dinamyc IP. If I open the SQL editor and connect to ds_pc I have 2 option: 1.- if I'm not internet connection opened I can work without problems 2.- if I'm a internet connection opened I can't connect to ds_pc and appear the error: -- [Informix][isqct04b.dll] SQL Error (-908) : Attempt to connect to database server (ds_pc) failed. -- Disconnected from . It could be a DNS issue -- try using a fixed IP address of 127.0.0.1 instead of a machine name in SQLHOSTS. Probably when you have the internet connection openned your DNS request to resolve the database's server hostname to an IP address is going out to your ISP's DNS server and not your corporate server or the local hosts file on the PC. Try changing the hostname in setnet32 and/or the ODBC connection manager from a hostname to an ip address. That may solve the problem. Art S. Kagel ----- Original Message ----- From: Josep M.
