YIKES GO UPGRADE GO UPGRADE. if you want to save your a$$
afaikr it still has pre ism storage manager with tonns of problems.
for now use ontape to create a full backup.
TAPESIZE 3144720 # Maximum amount of data to put ontape
-----------------^^^^^^
this should not exceed 2 GB.
if your data does then you have to move the file
TAPEDEV D:\\backup\\compback\\IFMXBKUP.BAK # Tape device path
to D:\\backup\\compback\\IFMXBKUP.BAK_1 and
create a new one when ontape asks for a new tape using
copy nul D:\\backup\\compback\\IFMXBKUP.BAK
when it's done rename this to
D:\\backup\\compback\\IFMXBKUP.BAK_2
also create a REAL temp dbspace and put the name in your onconfig
instead of rootdbs the backup stuff uses temp space.
-- 2) Below is an "ONSTAT -a" (my logical logs are almost full, and my
-- chucks are almost filled up...woo hoo!):
Your logs are backed up this should be ok. if you do need then and you
use ontape then you have to do this manually either using ontape -a
or ontape -c
this means you have to gointo your server admin agent which has
probably somwehere an alarm or something set which backups the logs
for you.
also you need to configure
TAPEDEV D:\\backup\\compback\\IFMXBKUP.BAK # Tape device path
copy the above first before you start a log backup!!
TAPESIZE 3144720 # Maximum amount of data to put ontape
----------------^^^^ this should not exceed 2 GB
Besides this your engine needs tuning!!!!!
BUFFERS 200 # Maximum number of shared buffersis a bit small; etc etc.
ahum if your chunks are full then start adding chunks to your dbspace.
Superboer.
Superboer, Thank you very much. My backup successfully completed (now I have to test a restore). Quick question, after adding new chunks, do I have to do anything to ensure the database server uses them? Regards, Kyle
