DBTIME environment variable in dbaccess

Greetings all !
[IDS 7.30UC1 on Solaris]
I'm trying to set the environment variable "DBTIME" so that I can change
the date format for datetime datatypes. When I set the environment
variable, it has no effect. But here's the rub: I'm setting it in a
DBACCESS session which I run on the same machine as the db server, since
I'm trying to load some data using dbaccess. Is DBACCESS sensitive to
the DBTIME environment variable, or is it only the server itself? If
it's just the server, that won't work for us, since we want to change
the datetime format temporarily for just one data loading session. Is
there a workaround for this? Many thanks.

I'd recommend export the DBTIME variable to your environment prior to
invoking dbaccess. It will be "in effect" until that person logs out of
Unix. To get rid of it without logging out, you need to "unset" it using
the correct syntax for whatever Unix shell you are using.

Before you buy.
My shell doesn't use or need "export". I use "setenv". I don't believe
this is the issue. I'm really asking whether DBTIME is supported in
dbaccess. Thanks for your effort though, George.

DB-Access doesn't really support DBTIME.
In fact, DBTIME doesn't really support anything, either.
How do you set DBTIME so that you can sensibly format all three of:
DATETIME YEAR TO SECOND
DATETIME YEAR TO DAY
DATETIME HOUR TO FRACTION(5)
Hence, DBTIME and its ugly sibling, GL_*TIME, are not worth the paper
they're documented on.
Just my jaundiced opinion on the subject, but no-one has ever come up with
an answer for my
question.
