INFORMIX EXCLUSIVE RDBMS FOR U.S. NAVY TAC-4 Washington, DC, February 8, 1995 -- Informix Software, Inc. (NASDAQ:IFMX), the industry leader in parallel processing database technology, will provide the U.S. Navy high performance secure RDBMS technology, application development tools, and end-user access tools with Hewlett-Packard Company, winner of the U.S. Navy Tactical Advanced Computer -- TAC-4 -- program contract. The TAC-4 program has an estimated value of up to $672.6 million. Under the terms of the six year requirements contract, the U.S. Navy can purchase up to 23,000 servers and workstations from HP. Informix will deliver the database server and tools technology to meet both the Navy's secure C3I requirements as well as its day-to-day non-tactical database requirements. The Informix database system will play a critical role in helping the U.S. Navy, as well as the Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and other Defense agency customers, support both their peacetime and wartime mission demands. The database will organize the vast amount of data generated from the workstations and make it available in an effective and time critical manner with the appropriate level of security for operational needs. OnLine Dynamic Server achieved a transaction rate of 3,118.2 transactions per minute, the highest ever achieved on a symmetric multi-processing --SMP-- server."
