This service allows customers to make secure bank transactions from their home with a standard web browser. (staff writer, 1/7/98) INFOWORLD "Decision Support Wares Grow" The OLAP Council will be announcing a thin-client-supportive version of its Multidimentional API (MD-API) a standard interface for OLAP servers. It will likely overlap somewhat with Microsoft's proposed OLE DB for OLAP API. Throughout the industry, new decision support and database products are coming out including Informix's MetaCube 4.0. (Paul Krill, 1/9/98) C/NET "Apple, Others See Stock Spike" In an article discussing stock jumps at the start of the new year, Informix was mentioned for it stock jumping 18%. The stock was helped by news that brokerage Hoak Breedlove was initiating coverage of the company as a hold and by the news of Les Denend's appointment to the board of directors. However, Oracle's stock also fell 29% when they announced that year end profits would not meet expectations. (staff writer, 1/12/98) COMPUTING CANADA "Informix Revamps Database Server Product Line" Informix has simplified its product line to offer only the Informix Dynamic Server with five options. The goal of the simplification was to make it easier to sell the product and to give customers what they specifically need.
