Logging of database activity

We have Informix dynamic server 7.22. We need to log the users activity on the database. I do not want to work via stored procedures and triggers if possible. Is there a way to use the logical logs for such a purpose ? Is there a document which describes the structure of the logical log for parsing ? Thanks for help Peter
