Enormous C-ISAM binaries

I've recently been compiling some really small Informix C-ISAM v7 programs under SCO Unix 5.0.2, and even a trivial source file becomes over 500k (COFF) or about 380k (ELF). This is pretty astronomical, especially compared to C-ISAM v4, which used to produce binaries with about the same functionality (for my purposes) at under 20% of that size. Apart from the obvious (eg. stripping the binaries), is there any way to limit the massive software bloat going on here? -- Craig Macbride <craig@rmit.edu.au> URL: http://www.bf.rmit.edu.au/~craigm "I think there is a world market for maybe five computers." - Thomas Watson, chairman of IBM, 1943
