web to informix interface

hi, i am trying to establish web to informix connectivity. lately i have been fiddling with esql/c cgi interface kit available from informix. when i tried, i get -956 error, and the manual suggests that i modify /etc/hosts.conf. of course this is not a practical solution, since the cgi script process is owned by nobody, so anyone can have a root access. is there any other way to gain secured connection with the informix server? i am using esql/c 5.01, so i don't have CONNECT option. thanks hyun hyun@octel.com
