Table creation question..
Posted in 1999
Hi all, I've been churning with this one on my own for a while now and decided to see if anyone out there might have an opinion.. I'm building a database to archive data from an embedded system. Problem is lots of the data is coming in as array's of single bytes. One is 48 bytes long, another is 27, etc.. What I'm trying to decide is whether I should: 1) create separate field for each element 2) break them out into a separate table; 1 row/element 3) declare as char(n) and deal with the casting/ bitmapping in the esql/c client programs. 4) declare as byte fields There are pro/con's for each and I'm fairly sure I'll be going with #2 or #4; I'm just curious what other folks have done in this situation.. -Len lmarinis@grc.nasa.gov
