Forms Painter or 4gl ?

Hi I am currently working on an Informix project. We use the Unix based version 7.12 along with a tool called "Form Painter" for designing the screens and a few programs not requiring excessive 4GL code. The module I am in, mostly deals with the tool rather than directly programming in 4GL. The fear I am getting now a days is that I wont soon be able to write programs in actual 4GL due to an excessive exposure to the Form Painter tool. The fact is making me pretty anxious. I want to be good at 4GL programming but am finding myself keeping away from 4GL simply because Form Painter is too simple.. Please suggest me some ways out of this predicament in a friendly way rather than taking it in technical terms. Regards Shirish

Wellllll. Let me see you could stop using Form Painter and see your productivity drop. Or you could study the code it outputs and learn by example. I don't know what else to suggest. Art S. Kagel

Kagel Ok, this is just a sanity check: Form Painter is the 'thing' from the 4GL for Windows, that 'paint' per files? If anyone can have a 'productivity drop' by NOT using it, they probably don't have a keyboard on they PC at all.
