One of the great strengths of the *Dynamic* Scaleable Architecture
of the OnLine *Dynamic* Server is the ability to *dynamically* add
shared memory segments as needed. It is a feature!
However, under HP-UX this wonderful capability is less-than-fully
operational. As you've no doubt read in your machine notes Informix
recommends that you configure your instance to run all the memory
it needs in just one virtual segment. (SHMVIRT onconfig parameter)
You may also want to acquaint yourself with the "onmode -F" command,
used to free shared memory segments that are no longer required by
the engine.
