RE: User privilege

Pralay Row level access cannot be granted to users directly, but here is an = approach using views which works for **most** cases: - Create the table. - Create views based on the selection criterion. You mention data based = priviledges, so I assume you must have a selection criterion. - Revoke all permissions from public for the table. - Revoke all permissions from public for the views. - Grant all permissions to the first user for the first view. - Grant all permissions to the second user for the second view. - and so on for each user and view. Since these are single table views we would be able to SELECT, UPDATE, = DELETE and INSERT into this view. The only problem you might encounter = is when the user inadverdently does an UPDATE that moves a data element = from one view to another. I dont know of any other problems. Other knowledgeable Informix-ers may = be able to shed more light. Does anybody know whether it's possible to grant data based=20 privileges to users of On-line 7.10 UD1 ( isql version 6.02 UC1 ) ? To be more explicit, let me say, I've got two groups of users; both using the same tables. Now, I want to grant privileges to one group only on the data which they're in charge of. In other words, I would like to grant row level privileges.=20 If you've got the answer, I'd be grateful to know. Thanks in advance.
