Using Omniback and Multi cartridge tape drive w/Informix
Posted in 1996
Well . . , I do unattended archives on an HP9000/800 HP-UX 10.01, OnLine DS 7.12.UC1 . . . sort of; I don't use Omniback though; not yet supported, I was told. I believe the OnBar utility of 7.2 is supposed to talk to Omniback, and I can't wait. In the mean time, if you wish to use a multiple tape drive, unattended, try using the OnArchive utility (which allows unattended operation), and then if your Autoloader does not load the first tape, make sure you manually load the first tape of the cartridge. You can use 'dd' and 'mt -t <dev> offl' to read the labels and switch to another tape until you find the one you need. Only problem is our Autoloader does not cycle back to the start, so you need to know the order of your tapes. If your archive exceeds the capacity of one tape (we get 4 - 8 GB per tape), I believe the Autoloader will cycle to the next tape . . . I have yet to try this out. >>> Harry Newman <harnew@ix.netcom.com> 10/03/96 07:16pm >>> Does anyone know how to use Omniback with multiple cartridge idrive to back up Informix 7.12 unattended?
