NewEra ViewPoint Pro form?

Creating a form with NewEra ViewPoint Pro, I ran into the following problem: "Required for data entry" (Working with Forms and Reports Version 2.1, p.3-15) is an "input instruction" that is forced on data fields that: a) are join columns b) use the "include" value (sets Validate to "Yes") Many of the form fields that I want to include are NOT to be filled in when a new database record is created but are fields for which I want to use these attributes. Anyone know how to set "Required for data entry" = "No" for a field AND maintain the "join" and/or "included" attribute?
