KAIO on IRIX

We got INFORMIX and KAIO worked on V7.20. And INFORMIX V2.20 does not work. It is said that we need a special accelerator for database from SGI which costs arms and legs. Anyone out there with this problem and how to go about doing this??? Thanks in advance...
