5.0 Engines with 4.1 tools

Hello again... A few weeks ago, I mentioned a problem we were having with a client who had just upgraded to AIX 3.2 and our Informix application was now disintegrating...at the time they were running 4.0 tools and engine. After they upgraded to 4.1 4GL and 5.0 S/E (at Informix's recommendation), we still saw no improvement. My original posting prompted a response from someone who said to change MALLOCTYPE to use 3.1, and since then we do not see AS MANY problems. Oh, they changed the ulimit also. Among other things, we were investigating rumored "inconsistencies" between 5.0 engine and 4.1 tools. Yes, I know, if you're using 5.0 engine you can ONLY be using 4.1,. But, for as long as I've heard about 5.0, I've heard "rumored" problems. Informix isn't able to shed much light: some people there say "yes" there are problems, others are quick to point out that there is NOTHING wrong with 5.0 (then why is 5.01 soon to be released??) I'm not trying to point fingers: I'm dyed-in-the-wool Informix. But...my client is still screaming that our product doesn't work.
