Compiling ISQLPERL on Solaris 2.4 with Informix lESQLC 7.1

I'm having difficulty compiling Isqlperl 1.2 on Solaris 2.4 using ESQLC 7.1. At this point, it looks as if the Informix ESQLC 7.1 libs are incompatible with perl4.036 which makes Isqlperl defunct? Any help would be most appreciated. Regards.
