Combination of ODBC and Informix engine on MSDOS?

In our current project we are using Windows 3.1/ODBC to access the Informix database on our UNIX server. The ODBC driver connects to REMSQL, which is part of the Informix/Star product. In order to speed up development we want to be able to use ODBC to connect to a local Informix database on our MSDOS PC's. Can someone verify if the local Informix Engine on MSDOS will work with ODBC? I would be grateful for any information on this subject.
