This _is_ in the manual, but: ontape -s -L 0 -B dbname [for buffered logging] or ontape -s -L 0 -U dbname [for unbuffered logging] You might want to set your TAPEDEV in the onconfig file to /dev/null temporarily so that this happens quickly.
