Redhat 6.0 and Large File descriptors

Anyone had any luck with patching RH 6.0 to get the 3000 file descriptors. Just downloaded all rpms from redhat as specified in informix release docs, but they are all 5.2 specific and the kernel stuff is a little behind. Also, is there a linux/informix newsgroup I can peg to? Trying to get it running on a 100mhz with 40mb ram - just for fun/experimentation. Engine starts up and can access on local box, but no remote clients. Thanks.... James

Red Hat folded a lot of kernel patches into the 6.0 base release, including everything you need for IDS 7.30. 6.0 will run IDS fine in the default configuration. -- Alan Denney yosemite at accesscom.com "I am so full of anticipation, my genitals have been sucked up into my body cavity." -- Dieter, "Sprockets" (SNL)
Well, the database does startup fine, but when it starts I get the following
messages to stdout and kernellog:

Aug 21 09:35:55 sav01 kernel: dupfd: fd 2041, max 1024
and this continues down to ...

Same thing on shutdown of engine.
Also cannot connect from PC using setnet. I get users password not correct

What I found strange about this is that the users name is not populated - on
our HP and Sun versions, it usually displays the users name that had the
incorrect password. I think this could be from some confusion related to
the 2 nic cards in the machine I am running this on??? but any thoughts
would be appreciated. It does recognize when the engine is in quiesent
mode, so there is some communication going on, but somethings up.
