We use only row level locking. This is probably the only granularity usable for an OLTP system, except for tables that are simply lookup tables, where page locking may be OK. As for getting the current locking mode, use select locklevel from systables where tabname = <whatever> P=page locking R=row locking B=page locking also (found on views and system catalog tables.
