You can't do it, at least not unless you are doing it programmatically from within some sort of program that handles its own shared memory. If the table is accessed enough, and if your shared memory is large enough, you can probably figure that Informix will have the pages in shared memory anyway. I suppose you could write a script that accessed the tables from a cron job to be **sure** that it is in shared memory. I haven't tried it, but you could possibly place a small database chunk on a RAM drive and get sort of the same effect. Anybody tried this? What you want is the equivalent of the UNIX "sticky bit" for tables. Can't you do this in Oracle?....I seem to remember seeing this somewhere.
