I would expect the problem to be with SE rather than with I4GL-RDS; can you verify that? * Does 'fglgo -V' give the problem? * Does '$INFORMIXDIR/lib/sqlexec -V' give the problem? This is because SE was produced on kernel 2.0.x and either glibc 2.0.7 or, even more likely, the old libc5 -- actually, I think it is the libc5 version which requires libcrypt.so.1. So, you probably have the SE from July 98 (IWUC'98, Seattle, perhaps). >Where Can I get these libraries ? I don't know for sure. There are at least two possibilies. 1. Check on your distribution CD to see whether there are any compatability libraries available. 2. Create a symlink: ln -s /lib/libc.so /lib/libcrypt.so.1 The second one is an outrageous cheat and nothing else, but (my theory is) it provides a file which can be analysed as an already loaded shared library and the crypt that is in the main libc.so (check whether you need a version number on the end) will do what you need. You could also consider upgrading to IDS. -- Yours, Jonathan Leffler (jonathan.leffler@informix.com) #include <disclaimer.h> Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.62 -- http://www.perl.com/CPAN "I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it!"

Thank You very much for your answer. I verify the problem according with your suggestion. I think to have the problem also with RDS. 1.fglgo -V: fglgo: error on loading shared libraries: libcrypt.so.1: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory 2. $INFORMIXDIR/lib/sqlexec -V: /u/info7/lib/sqlexec:error in loading shared libraries: libcrypt.so.1: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory Now I have found and I have installed the RPM resource "libcrypt1-1.0-5.i385" from the URL http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/libcrypt.so.1.html" Now RDS seem to work correctly but SE is still not Okay. When I try to connect to my local database server I can see the message "-22591 trasport protocol received an invalid connection " In the $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts I have: ol_p60 seipcpip p60 sqlexec Can you help me with some other suggestions ? Thanks in advance. Yours Francesco Sgaravatti

Dear Mr. Leffler, I have solved my problem ! I have found the missing library in the Red Hat distribution (6.0) So I have copied the file in the CD (RedHat/instimage/lib/libcrypt.so.1) in /lib. Now Informix RDS and SE work ! Best Regards Francesco Sgaravatti
