The simplest way to migrate data seems to me the following:
1. Get and compile DBREF Utility
2. Create LoadDB.sql / UnloadDB.sql INFORMIX SQL scripts for
PRODUCTION Database:
$ dbref prod_database_name
3. Unload MIGRATE Database onto disk or tape:
$ dbaccess -s migr_database_name < UnloadDB.sql
4. Populate PRODUCTION Database with data:
$ dbaccess -s prod_database_name < LoadDB.sql
DBREF Utility source is located somewhere on mathcs.emory.edu or I can send
you it, if needed.
Take care

dbref (INFORMIX DBA) dbref (INFORMIX DBA)
Name: dbref \\- an INFORMIX Database Referential Integrity
Rules analyzing routine.
Version: @(#)dbref v.1.2 4/10/95
Synopsis:
dbref [ dbname ]
dbname is a database name; if omitted,
DBNAME enviromental variable is assumed.
Description:
DBREF (DataBase REFerences analyzer) analyzes the Referential
Integrity Rules. It gets them from "informix".sysreferences
and "informix".sysconstraints Informix System catalog tables.
Then it tries to order the Referential Integrity Tree.
If attempt successed, DBREF generates two INFORMIX SQL
scripts: LoadDB.sql - database loading script according to
proper order, and UnloadDB.sql - database unloading script
( for symmetry ). If attempt failed, DBREF creates LoadDB.err
file which contains list of tables that cause Referential
hierarchy problems.
Compatibility:
DBREF utility was tested on the following equipment:
Computer Model: IBM PS/2 Model 95A
Operation System: SCO ODT UNIX, release 3.0.0
Filesystems: AFS, EAFS
Informix Server: Informix On-Line v.5.01
Database Log Mode: ANSI
Files:
LoadDB.sql - Database Loading INFORMIX SQL Script
UloadDB.sql - Database Unloading INFORMIX SQL Script
LoadDB.err - Errors found description file
