Odd Connectivity Issue

I am seeing odd behavior from tcp/ip local loopback connections on our new
Solaris server. I see in the online.log the following for a user connecting to
our 'dvlp' INFORMIXSERVER - the dvlp server is configured as a tcp/ip
connection.
12:52:03 listener-thread: err = -956: oserr = 0: errstr = pfranks@magie-ip1:
Client host or user pfranks@magie-ip1 is not trusted by the server.
When the user sets her env to the shared memory connection 'dvlpS' all is
fine. The hostname mentioned in the online.log is configured as a "secondary"
hostname - (my term) - here is how it looks in the /etc/hosts file:
127.0.0.1 localhost
999.999.9.205 magie.fcic.usda.gov magie.rma.usda.gov magie loghost
999.999.9.206 magie-ip1 #IP for nxge1 - Backup nic for nxge0
We have multiple nic's on the host - why does the local loopback come in on
the magie-ip1 ip address??? Here is the sqlhosts:
dvlpS onipcshm magie dvlpS
dvlp ontlitcp magie dvlp
Any help is appreciated - this was hastily written...
what's the output for sommand 'uname -a' and 'hostname' on your machine? one workaround, adding the hostname in /etc/hosts.equiv ### /etc/hosts.equiv magie magie-ip1 regards
Hi Mike,
Perhaps you could add a line into your $SQLHOSTS file
dvlp2 ontlitcp magie-ip1 dvlp
And add dvlp2 to your $ONCONFIG file in the DBSERVERALIASES parameter.
Possibly Ms Franks is logging into the box under magie-ip1 address and the
host is using that address for the outgoing comms
