Re: IDS 9.40 and Linux

I'm unsure about Informix having problems on a systems that are not "RPM Friendly" like source-based distros such as Gentoo or distros that are not mainstream. You could buy SuSE 9.0 Professional for $79.00 USD, or download it for free from SuSE's ftp site. The download version is not ISO's of the boxed set, it's more like the DVD-CD SuSE provides, which is a DVD-CD of everything on one CD, probably about 6 GB of binaries and source. You can even set up an FTP install, or like in our situation we copy everything from the DVD to a small beater ( an old pc ) we use as a software-server, then point other linux servers "source of installation" to it via Samba for additional software updates, etc. Beats Rat Head hands down. SuSE has really good kernel support too. -DG- Obnoxio The Clown wrote: > Xavier wrote: > > >>wich Linux distribution is better for running IDS 9.40 ? >> >>I was told that debian per example is not a good choice... > > > Anything is better than Rat Head. >
