Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

Hi:
We have a multitude of database servers in our company: SQL Base, SQL
Server, Informix and Access.
What I want to do is connect all those on my MS SQL Server 7.0 through ODBC.
I have created the linked servers and followed the instructions for
distributed queries. I can created the link server and can see the tables as
well, but the problem is that I cannot query them. I have used the syntax:
Linkserver.dsnname..tablename
I cannot understand what the catalog field in the link server is for. Can
somebody help me out with this?
Thanks.
