Isolation on sysmasters database
Posted in 2003
We have an application which uses the sysmasters database to retrieve lock information - who and on what table. We use a join between the sysmasters and tables in our application database, for example: SELECT INITCAP ( MAX(us.fullname) ) INTO l_user FROM caps:pres_event_group peg, sysmaster:syslocks sl, sysmaster:syssessions ss, caps:users us WHERE peg.peg_serial = gPeg AND sl.tabname = "pres_event_group" AND sl.rowidlk = peg.rowid AND sl.dbsname = "caps" AND sl.owner = ss.sid AND us.login = ss.username; caps is the application database. In all cases we use SET ISOLATION TO DIRTY READ. However, as this only applies to the caps database, if there are locks on the sysmasters tables then we get an error back. What we would like to do is set isolation to dirty read on sysmasters as well. We use 4GL, SPL and VB for client/server access. Does anyone know how we can do this?
