Not sure if you have reported this to Informix tech support. Sounds like you are hitting bugs 161668 and/or 161961. There is a difference in the memory handling of shared memory connections on AIX 5.1 / Power 4 systems. Informix has modfied its products to address this issue. You need versions of your client (and a recomplie of your application) and server that address bugs 161668 and 161961. Quickest solution for you is to use TCP connections instead of shared memory connections. ckgeier@nwc.edu (C.
