Informix runs well on SCO Unix on a PC, which would be a possible upgrade path from Xenix. If you have the original distribution disks from the Informix 1.1, they should install OK on SCO Unix. You could then send the old disk to a disk recovery service to extract the data files. Use the original version 1.1 to do a database unload, then load into an up to date version of the Informix software. Informix version 1.1 uses SQL, I think. It should be compatible with later versions of the database, which run on Unix and Windows NT. If you have Informix-SQL or 4GL, they will not run on NT, although I believe the new Dynamic 4GL does. Have you tried ringing up Informix pre-sales technical people? If they are interested in keeping you with their products they should be willing to advise what to do. -- Peter Lancashire Information Systems Specialist, Bayer plc Eastern Way, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, IP32 7AH, UK Tel: +44-1635-562258, Fax: +44-1635-562281 --- If all else fails, read the instructions.
