JL: There are alternative ways of looking at the problem: either the compilation succeeded but your environment is not set correctly, or neither you nor the esql script provided the correct arguments to the linker. You can fix the environment by adding $INFORMIXDIR/lib/esql and $INFORMIXDIR/lib to your LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable. You can (try to) fix the link line by adding -R$INFORMIXDIR/lib/esql and -R$INFORMIXDIR/lib to the esql command line. I've not verified that this works, but I believe it should, locating the ESQL/C libraries using those directories and using $LD_LIBRARY_PATH if that fails (or, maybe, using LD_LIBRARY_PATH and trying the -R directories if that fails).
