RE: ***** Interesting Resource Permission Problem *****

Chris I think this may work but I cant guarantee it because it has been a very = long time since I worked on an SE database. But logically it should = work. As root, edit the /etc/passwd file to remove the encrypted password for = the logins of the people who originally created the database. The entire = record in the /etc/passwd file for a login id is on a single line with = fields seperated by ":". The encrypted password is the second field. Now log in as the user who originally created the database and grant = yourself DBA on the database. Log out and log in as yourself. This = should now allow you to add / drop / alter tables. We need to add tables to this database, however I do not have Resource Permission to do this. The system is fairly old, and the people who orginally created the database have left - with their passwords. How can I give myself the permissions that I need? We tried becoming Super User and logging in, but that didn't work. Any suggestions on doing this? Please email me with any responses - ccollins@ndcinc.com Thanks, Chris ______________________________________________________________ =20 Chris Collins Consultant (MCPS) NDC Group, Inc.
