Presumeably, you are missing some environment variables.
Do an env command at your command prompt and write a line like 'env >
env.out' in the shell script that you invoke through cron. Compare the
two outputs. Look for variables like INFORMIXDIR, INFORMIXSERVER and
PATH (which should include $INFORMIXDIR/bin)
