Looking for a vendor
Posted in 2007
A user running IDS 9.40 on HP-UX had received their Informix engine license bundled with a third-party application that was being retired, and asked how to obtain their own standalone license now that other critical systems depended on the server. Respondents said to contact IBM directly, who will outline the licensing options, or go through an IBM Business Partner/VAR, which often yields a discount off list price and access to current promotions (a 3-for-the-price-of-2 Informix offer was mentioned). Several partners posted contact details; no further technical detail or outcome is recorded.

We currently have a nice HPUX machine (read archaic) running Informix 9.40.HC5. Our engine license was provided along with a software product that looks like it is on the way to being replaced. Unfortunately, several somewhat mission critical things have found their way onto that database server and will be in need of a new home when that happens. So, what is the general consensus about actually acquiring our own license for informix? Is this something that we need to contact IBM directly on? -- -------------------------------------------- Chris Salch Programmer/Analyst
Just contact IBM and they'll lay out your options. Art S. True, and most partners will give you a discount off of the list price. Also, as has been mentioned in the other list, there is a 3 for the price of 2 sale going on for the Informix products. --EEM -----Original Message----- From: ids-bounces@iiug.org [mailto:ids-bounces@iiug.org] On Behalf Of Tolvtvar, Dan W.
