Hi! I use onmonitor(Informix Online 7.2) to creat BLOBSpace(which I want to use to store certificates) as below: ______________________________________________________________________ Press ESC to build a new BLOBspace. Press Interrupt to cancel the option and return to the Dbspaces menu. Press F2 or CTRL-F for field level help. CREATE BLOBSPACE BLOBSpace Name [blobspace01 ] Mirror [N] BLOBPage Size [1024] PRIMARY CHUNK INFORMATION: Full Pathname [/u/informix/myspace ] Offset [ 0] Kbytes Size [ 2048] Kbytes MIRROR CHUNK INFORMATION: Full Pathname [ ] Offset [ 0] Kbytes ________________________________________________________________________ But when I press ESC, the cursor always blinks at "Full Pathname". Is there any item I wrote incorrectly? Thanks a lot. Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Share what you know. Learn what you don't.
> > BLOBPage Size [1024] > One, thing. You do know that the BLOBPAGE size isn't a size in kbytes. This is the number of normal data pages that are chained together to make up one "blob" page. If your page size is 2k, then you are requesting 1,024 2k pages to make up ONE blobpage. If your average BLOB size is much less than this, you are wasting a lot of space because OnLine will only store one blob per "blob" page. > PRIMARY CHUNK INFORMATION: > > Full Pathname [/u/informix/myspace ] > > Offset [ 0] Kbytes Size [ 2048] Kbytes > Is "myspace" a raw device (or a link to one)? Is the device owner/group informix and permissions set to 660? If this is a cooked file, did you "touch" the file to create it as zero bytes before attempting to initialize the blobspace? Are the owner/group and permissions set right? The size seems to be a bit small as well. Are you sure you only want a 2MB blobspace? You need a few more zeros for 20MB, 200MB or 2GB. Make the initial chunk size bigger (and possibly reduce the number of pages that make up one blobpage) and you should have better luck.
