Help using cgi_debug

I have been successfully using the Informix CGI tools with I4GL/RDS, but my experience has been limited to the cgi_runner. When I tried to substitute cgi_debug for cgi_runner in my form, I got garbage on my browser screen as it displayed the usual debugger stuff with full justified text. It started to load some file and kept loading for 5 minutes or so until I stopped it. How does the cgi_debug work? Is there something special I have to do to use it?
