} Informix Net appears to require DNS even though Informix says that they } do not use DNS. I recently was attempting to setup Informix Net on some } PC's and had numerous problems. I talked to Informix several times and } they } always said to make sure that the hosts files were up to date. I did } that } to no avail. } } Through my research I discovered that the working machines appeared to } be setup in DNS with reversal entries while the non-working machines } were not setup. The non-working machines were setup in DNS, however } reversals had not been setup. When I setup the reversal entries the } PC's connected without a problem. } } I had been told by three people at Informix that DNS is not an issue in } setting up Informix Net. However, if your machine is configured to use DNS, then DNS _MUST_ be setup correctly. This includes both forward (address for name) and reverse (name for address) lookups!
