Cannot register Excalibur datablade

Hi, I'm using IUS 9.13 UC2 on unix. I'm trying to install Excalibur Text blade: TXT.1.10.UC2 and ETX.1.10.UC2. However, using BladeManager on NT I cannot register them as it gives the following error: "Module With Missing Interface. The following DataBlade modules support the missing interface: TXT.1.10.UC2 " Then it says: "select one to register the required interface. Then when I click on the OK button, it comes with the same window errors with an blank window in the middle. And then the following error appears: "DataBlade module is not installed on this server." I have managed to install several DataBlades before using BladeManager and I don't know how to fix those errors. It seems to me that this could be happening because I'm using 9.13 UC2 instead of 9.13 UC3 or higher. Is that the point? Do I need to migrate down to Excalibur UC1? I am not using a ANSI database. Please, any help is very much appreciated. Thanks a lot, Claudio. -- Claudio de Souza Baptista Research Student Computing Laboratory CT2 7NZ University of Kent at Canterbury Canterbury, Kent, UK
Hi, I have installed it on Compaq Proliant for testing: 1. Try to use 9.14UC2 instead. 9.13 is very bug version. 2. You should install code in following order. (should be in order!) clientsdk ius dbdk (datablade developer kit, it contains blademanager) Blade module. 3. Check if the blade codes are in $INFORMIXDIR/extend 4. Use blademgr register TXT.1.10.UC2 [dbname] and then register ETX.1.10.UC2 [dbname] 5. You should add ETX VP in order to make search work. I guess you miss CLIENTSDK. Blademgr needs $INFOMRIXDIR/lib/dmi and esql Good luck! It is not a user friendly product. I know on Unix, the TXT blade is delivered in the same tar file as the ETX blade. You unpack the tar file and install the ETX blade and install the TXT blade (they each unpack to their own directories) (the LLD blade is installed with the engine). I don't really recall how the TXT blade gets installed on NT. (I realize that there is a setup program that you run) Sounds like you are missing the TXT blade. Blademgr tries to register all the blades that it needs (TXT and LLD) for you. Sounds like it is trying to do that, but the TXT blade is missing. Maybe try reinstalling the Blade software for ETX and see if you see anything that looks like it is the TXT blade. Tony
