HPUX 10.2x cc -0 for esql. good?

I was compiling some xxx.ec file and looking at the $INFORMIXDIR/bin/esql script on a 4CPU HPUX 10.2x, Informix 7.30UC2. For $CC I could add some compiler arguments like -Aa (for ANSI C) and -O (for compiler optimization +2). My question is: Does the cc -O or any other compiler option make a 4gl binary perform better on HP with 4CPU? Or is there not much difference. I am too lazy to actually performance test, anybody tested it?
