Checking version of CSDK
Posted in 2010
User couldn't determine the CSDK version on IDS 11.50 because esql seemed to be missing. Replies pointed out that "esql -V" still works and that $INFORMIXDIR/bin/check_version csdk can also report it — if the commands aren't there, CSDK simply isn't installed. The poster found that his patched release (11.50.FC3W1) lacked both binaries while the original 11.50.FC3 install had them; it was explained that interim PID/patch drops only ship the server components, so CSDK must be installed separately.

Hi, I am trying to find out what version of CSDK we are using. On previous versions of IDS I could run esql -V to find this info, but on IDS 11.50 esql is no longer available as an executable. Is there a way of finding this out. Your help is appreciated.
Try $INFORMIXDIR/bin/check_version csdk -----Original Message----- From: ids-bounces@iiug.org [mailto:ids-bounces@iiug.org] On Behalf Of SHANE RABBETS Sent: Monday, March 08, 2010 9:46 AM To: ids@iiug.org Subject: Checking version of CSDK [19264] Hi, I am trying to find out what version of CSDK we are using. Of course it is. Same as always, "esql -V" yields the version. How are you compiling your ESQL/C source if you don't have the esql script (executable on windows) in your execution path? It should be in $INFORMIXDIR/bin (%INFORMIXDIR%\\\\bin on windows) where it has always been. Art Art S. Thanks for the responses, you're quite correct. I have deployed a patched version of IDS 11.50.FC3 (IDS 11.50.FC3W1) and it seems that CSDK is not bundled with this version of IDS. Neither the esql binary not the check_version binaries exist in $INFORMIXDIR/bin directory for IDS 11.50.FC3W1. However they do exist in the original IDS 11.50.FC3 bin directory. I will ask IBM if CSDK was meant to be bundled with this version of IDS, otherwise I will need to install it separately. Thank again.
Yes, typically PID drops, IDS XX.XX.XC#W versions, only come bundled with what is typically located under the SERVER directory in a full installation bundle. -----Original Message----- From: ids-bounces@iiug.org [mailto:ids-bounces@iiug.org] On Behalf Of SHANE RABBETS Sent: Monday, March 08, 2010 10:03 AM To: ids@iiug.org Subject: Re: Checking version of CSDK [19267] Thanks for the responses, you're quite correct.
