Hi, I was looking into the list of currently supported products at the Informix web site. 4GL compiled has 7.2x and 4.2x and cisam has 5.1x and 7.2x . What is the difference between these 2 product versions ? I need to decide on which one to upgrade to.Any recommendations. TIA Sathish Sadagopan

I4GL 7.2x has GLS support and uses the more modern connectivity methods. This makes the programs bigger, but 'better'. I4GL 7.2 will be maintained for longer than I4GL 4.2 will -- basically, no maintenance releases are planned for 4.2, but there will in due course be a 7.3 version of I4GL, using ClientSDK. > I need to decide on which one to upgrade to.Any recommendations. Go to 7.2 unless you can afford to fossilize your system using the 5.10 engines and 4.2 I4GL -- further upgrades will never matter to you. -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.60 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
