are you selecting in a 4gl file or in sql?
i tried this on a table with 500 rows and it works
main
define tot decimal(8,2),
i smallint
for i = 1 to 100
insert into x values(99.99)
end for
select sum(d) into tot from x
display "The Sum Of This Table is ", tot at 1,1
end main
