Re: WWW.INFORMIX.COM - Nils, of course, right?

I just relize from reareading your post that you didn't actually complain about the server itself, but simply the graphics they display on the home page. I first read it as a complaint about their datablade techonology. I was far too fast, and appologize for my then more than unfortunate wording, and hope you can accept that. Informix are overusing graphics some. This may lead to slow opening of pages on slow links. This is sadly a general trend on the net. People don't seem to understand that it's information we are after, and the beauty of it is secondary, but can be achieved well with simpler graphics. They have also commited the grave error of including nothing but images on their home page. If you turn off automatic loading of images the page isn't even funny. They have even left out the usual text displayed in place of the images on many other sites. They should definitely change this. Their linking structure is also far too deep currently to get to interesting information quickly unless you know the correct URL to go directly to. It remains however that from our location the Informix web site is among the fastest of those I visit (and I visit many). As you say there may be many reasons, but this is only an observation from here.
