Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
I am trying to load 5000 rows to a table that is being replicated. I
have configured the number of locks on the target system to 20000,
but I am getting errors saying there isn't enough locks. ( ISAM error
-134). However, there are no other users using the system.
I did an onstat -k after this happened and it only showed a few
locks ( on tblspace 100002 only). I bumped up the number of locks
to 100000 and it worked fine.
I did the insert on the source system within a transaction, and I
locked the table in exclusive mode. I assume that the table won't
be locked on the target and that a lock will be held for each row
being inserted. This stilll doesn't explain why I'm running out
of locks. This can be a problem since we might potentially load
over a million rows at a time. What is the upper limit to the number
of locks & is there a way around this problem?
Any help will be gratefully accepted.
Pete
