Re: INFORMIX/TEXT/TRAINING

May I be so bold as to recommend my very own book on INFORMIX-SQL? It is entitled "INFORMIX-SQL, a Tutorial and Reference" and is published by Prentice Hall, ISBN 13-465121-9. The price is UKP 19.95, or (I believe) US$ 28.00. You can order from Prentice Hall in the UK on 0442-231555 or (201) 592 2000 in the US. There are discounts for orders over 10 copies. Now what is the book about? Read on... I have tried to combine my experience as an Informix trainer (with Olivetti) with my knowledge of the system as UK DB Product Manager for Informix. I think I have produced a text which is useful to both novices and experienced ISQL users, as there are a number of tricks and traps in the product that are not immediately obvious - e.g. using variables in SQL statements, WITHOUT leaving the SQL editor. The book is based on version 2.10.03, but includes references to all the features which are new in 4.0 - marked throughout the book as "New for Version 4.0". There is also a not-too-long chapter on Database Principles, including normalisation to 3NF. One reviewer exclaimed, "I can hardly believe it, I now actually understand normalisation!". Oh, I nearly forgot, here's a quote from the Chairman of the European Informix User Group, Jeremy Russell: "This book contains a wealth of information, and is an essential tool for all levels of INFORMIX-SQL user". OK, so I'm in marketing, but why don't you get a copy and decide for yourself?
