I have students at the U that work for Microsoft. So far everything else I've heard has ended up in the trade press months later so I've no reason to doubt this. There are some things Oracle does that can not be duplicated (at least not easily) without copying some of its architecture such as flashback and RAC. So they are trying to copy and not violate patents. Not an easy task for any company. Especially one that puts marketing before technology. (and yes the final sentence is opinion). -- Daniel A.
