I believe this is only supported on 2.4.X kernels although it will run
on 2.6.X kernels. I would not use a 2.6.X kernel in production for this
reason. SuSE 9.0 is a distribution we use successfully.

I am not familiar with Fedora so I can only give a rough overview of how
to set up raw devices. I am assuming your kernel supports them.
- Configure the hard disc partitions for raw devices using a
partitioning tool.
- Set up raw devices, presumably using /etc/sysconfig/rawdevices.
- Start the raw device service: /etc/init.d/rawdevice start
- Or you can do the above two steps manually by running a command like
this: raw /dev/raw/raw1 /dev/sda1 . The settings will be lost when you
reboot though.
- Make sure the raw devices in /dev/raw/ have permissions rw-rw---- and
have uid and gid 'informix'.
- Create a /data folder and create symbolic links to the raw devices.
e.g. ln -s /dev/raw/raw1 /data/rootdbs
- Create other raw devices and links for other dbspaces.
- Make sure your ROOTPATH variable in your ONCONFIG file is set to
/data/rootdbs
- Use other dbspaces by creating them with the 'onspaces' command.

If the problem is just that you cannot figure out the configuration file
then find out where the raw devices are (usually off /dev) and create
your own script to use them like:
raw /dev/raw/raw1 /dev/sda1
raw /dev/raw/raw2 /dev/sda2
raw /dev/raw/raw3 /dev/sda3
etc.
