Dbimport & The Grid
Posted in 2014
User asked how to run dbimport and dbaccessdemo7 within an Informix Grid environment. The challenge is that dbimport implicitly creates the database, complicating grid execution. Madison Pruet suggested using ifx_grid_connect/ifx_grid_execute procedures with a wrapper procedure, and for dbimport specifically: compress the export directory, use ifx_grid_copy to transfer it to grid nodes, then use the wrapper to extract and run dbimport on each…

How can I replicate a dbimport execution within a Grid environment?
Same question for dbaccessdemo7 program.
The example will not work since dbimport implicity creates the database.
database sysmaster;
execute procedure ifx_grid_connect(grid1, 1);
create database mydb with log;
create procedure sysdbopen()
execute procedure ifx_grid_connect(grid1, 3);end procedure;
Thanks a lot.
Try the following...
execute procedure ifx_grid_connect('grid1');
create procedure xqt_cmd(cmd lvarchar)system cmd;
end procedure;
execute procedure ifx_grid_execute('grid1', "dbaccessdemo7");
I haven't tried this, but am pretty sure that it would work.
With dbimport, you can tar and compress the export directory and then use
ifx_grid_copy to transfer the compressed export directory to the nodes
within the grid, Then you can use the xqt_cmd() procedure that I described
above to expand and untar the file - and finally use the xqt_cmd procedure
to run dbimport on each of the nodes.

Thank's a lot Madison, I'll try this.
Please note that the grid procedure execution is like this:
execute procedure ifx_grid_procedure('grid1','xqt_cmd("dbaccessdemo7 -log")')
IT CORRECTLY WORKS !!!
