onunload/onload via pipe?

Hi Informixers,
I'm trying to copy several databases (size each ~100-200MB) from one
server to another. I thought that onunload/onload were the way to go,
since the server versions are exactly the same (IDS 7.30UC6).
I know how to onunload to a file and onload from a file. But "ulimit"
is a problem, as is filesystem space on the receiving machine. So I'd
like to connect onunload and onload through a pipe, calling one of the
two programs via "rsh". However, I haven't found a way in the documentation
(Informix Migration Guide) to make onunload write to stdout and onload read
from stdin. Seems like they insist on a filename as parameter for the
"-t" option, and I cannot use a named pipe since the whole thing is
supposed to work over a network connection.
Any suggestions or alternatives?
Regards, Richard

Uses fifo's -unload to fifo, have a prosess copy from that fifo to a fifo
on the other machine and use onload to read from that fifo.
Pipe it through gzip and you'll reduce spaze to 1/10

Ontape if you'r copying the whole database and disk is set up equal.

Use netcat a tool available on the internet ...
